A call from a friend of mine who has been emotionally shattered by his boss today made me think through the very purpose and role of a "boss" in a sales organisation. Words and feelings expressed between the boss and the manager is not as important as the business objective of a boss - subordinate relationship in any organisation. They are destined to win or lose together - irrespective of who is competent or not. But, mostly we have seen that the team is a mirror of the boss himself.
Many will agree with me when i say that we are respected as human beings only by our family members (and not to forget our close friends also) - because we take care of their needs and today that too at a big discount.

Would any wife or grown up children allow their MAN stay in a job if they knew that what he brings home as salary is nothing but his self esteem pledged again and again, month after month?...... A commodity that is easily pledged to satisfy someone's fury while getting paid for. Someone said, "lose anything, but never lose yourself" - shun those old time golds! We will keep allowing our bosses do that!!! Who's response - able? rather who should be? Are we still role models to our children? God help them!!
Has anyone shared the misery of identity loss in the job to your family members? What did they say? Or are we applying our skills of managing others' perceptions about us to our family also?

We were taught that bossess are mentors and they applied TLC - Tender, Love & Care to bring the best ( remember to keep the worst with yourself) in a subordinate. Today we have more of 'insubordinates' - as a product of bringing the worst in a person.
My entire education till graduation was funded by government ( I studied in govt. school) .Today, when I realise the kind of responsibility someone had taken to educate me, I feel ashamed to be unable to give it back to the society in whatever form it takes.
Considering ourselves and society ( our parents and relatives are also considered part of society for this purpose), how have we traversed to where we are today? and who all were responsible?

Before it is too late, we must get back our individuality and the only way to do that is to be with some one who make you feel extraordinary and not being with some one who is adept in making an extraordinary subordinate look terribly ordinary.
Now, how are we going to make at least one life around us look smarter and happier? If those lives are at least your own wife and children, HATS OFF to you my dear! and if it were to be one of your subordinates - one more family looks better.

Can we not break the chain? Yes, WE CAN !!!
